Texas Church Attacker Fled After Good Guy with a Gun Shot at Him

As the smoke clears around Sunday’s mass shooting at the Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, stories are surfacing about what happened. The latest report says a man witnessed the end of the shooting. He and a neighbor then gave chase, following the man they believe to have been the shooter.

Summer Caddel told ABC the her boyfriend, Johnnie Langendorff, “called her moments after the shooting at First Baptist Church and told her that he saw a gunfight between the shooter and a neighbor, who was returning fire.”
Reports from inside the church say as many as 27 people were killed, and more injured. Yet the casualty numbers ight be even higher, if Langendorff’s account is true. The two men who returned fire may have broken up the shooting and driven the suspect off.

Langendorff says the suspected gunman made it to his SUV and drove away, but the two men gave chase. The chase ended at a sharp curve where the suspect wrecked. During this time, the two men perusing him were on the phone with 911 giving detailed information to police about where they were headed.
Shortly after the crash, the man fled on foot. Thanks to the efforts of the two civilians, law enforcement officials were on scene instantly.

Langendorff reportedly has not been able to contact her boyfriend since the incident. His phone has reportedly been taken as evidence.
Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt confirms that at least 20 people have died. They are keeping information close at this early stage and the FBI is reportedly participating in the investigation on scene.

After leaving the church, shooter fled into neighboring Guadalupe County.
A Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman has acknowledged that the armed citizen opened fire causing the shooter to drop his rifle and flee.

The Trump Administration Has Terrible News For The NFL

Trump is finally getting sweet vindication on the anti-American NFL, and hitting them where it hurts most in his new tax bill.

The new bill is prohibiting luxury football stadiums from claiming tax breaks, thus halting the taxpayer gravy train.

The NFL would lose its ability to claim tax breaks for stadiums, colleges and universities would have to start paying taxes on massive endowments, and house “flippers” could no longer shield their income from the taxman under House Republicans’ proposed tax bill, which takes aim at a number of quirks that have developed over the years.

Republicans also settled some scores with the bill, including freeing churches from rules that prevent them from taking a stand in political elections and halting illegal immigrants’ ability to claim several major tax credits.

The changes produce tens of billions of dollars in savings a year — money that Republicans poured back into the tax code to reduce rates for lower-income Americans and to cut business taxes.

Axed from the tax code are breaks for electric car owners and big-time college donors looking to score better seats at football games. Also gone is the ability of divorcees to deduct some alimony payments.

All told, budget-cutters said, it’s a major step toward the flattening that Republicans had promised.

“Taxes should not be determined by who has access to the best accountants, lobbyists and politicians. The tax code should be simple enough that everyone — including members of Congress — is capable of filing their own returns,” said former Sen. Tom Coburn, Congress‘ onetime top waste-watcher. “The House bill, while not perfect, reduces and eliminates numerous special interest and duplicates of tax breaks, and moves in the direction of a simpler code.”

A Construction Worker Built A life-Size Where’s Waldo For Kids In The Hospital Next Door To Find

Jason Haney knows all too well what it’s like for kids to be stuck in a hospital. Haney’s daughter had a stroke while she was still in the womb. At the age of 3, she was diagnosed with brain damage that doctors said might permanently hinder her ability to learn beyond a third-grade level.

Haney remembers those extended stays in the hospital with his family and how hard it was to stay positive. So when he was hired to work on the construction project at Memorial Children’s Hospital, in South Bend, Indiana, the construction foreman did what he could to brighten the days of the children staying in the hospital.

It started with a snowman that Haney dressed up with a construction vest and hardhat.

“It was a huge hit,” Haney told ABC News.

But they didn’t get much snow after that, so Haney set up some inflatable snowmen and an inflatable Sponge Bob. As he was tying them down, one of the electricians joked that it would be funny if they had a ‘Where’s Waldo?’ on the site. When Haney got home, he immediately got to work on making a real-life Waldo character out of plywood and paint.

Haney started hiding Waldo around the construction site in April and the kids have been enthralled with it ever since.

“I’ve been watching the kids run over to the window and look out for Waldo,” Heidi Prescott, the hospital’s media relations specialist, told ABC News. “It truly brightens their day,” she added.

The game has become so popular that Haney even created a Facebook page giving the kids hints about where to find Waldo through photos and clues. The kids can then tag the pics once they find him.

“That’s my way of finding out if they’ve found it,” Haney said.

Despite the fact that Waldo is an unwieldy 8-feet tall and 50 or 60 pounds in weight, Haney plans to keep hiding him around the construction site for the kids to find. But he also has another surprise up his sleeve for the kids — he’s in the process of building a team of Minions to hide as well.

“They’re easier to carry,” he said.

Incidentally, Haney’s daughter — the one who doctors thought would have a permanent learning disability — well, she has graduated from high school with honors and is headed to Indiana’s Ball State University in the fall.

Because this story is just full of happy endings.

By now, you’ve probably heard about the insanely raunchy “Sex Island” vacation from Good Girls Company, where 30 lucky guests will fly out to a private island off the coast of Catagena, Colombia, and gorge themselves on more alcohol, sex, prostitutes, and hard drugs than their bodies can handle.

On the 4-day drug-fueled vacation, guests will have their minds blown in wild sex sessions, spend 30 minutes with 16 prostitutes at the same time, and party on a luxury yacht where they’ll indulge in “unlimited sex” with hookers, drink their body weight in alcohol, and probably take a bath in cocaine.

Sounds like a hard partying sex maniac’s dream come true, right? Yeaaah.

In fact, it’s been revealed that an unnamed “high profile British pop star” who has a bunch of “number one hits” is among the guests. Hmm…I wonder who? Mick Jagger? Harry Styles? Calvin Harris? Sting???

Anyway, apparently the “sex island experience” is just a little too wild for the world, because first, the promotional videos got pulled from YouTube for being too raunchy and possibly breaking some Colombian laws on pimping, and now, the Colombian government is banning the trip and calling it “unacceptable,” and saying a vacation like this simply cannot be allowed to happen.

Wow…can you imaging going all the way to Colombia for this vacation, and then getting screwed by the government instead of hookers? That would suck.

Well, fingers crossed everything works out, and the 30 lucky guests don’t get deported.

The Chief of the University of Nevada, Reno Police Dept. — where Colin Kaepernick went to school — is apologizing for an officer who mocked the QB at a Halloween party.

The officer in hot water is Antonio Gutierrez — who wore a Kaepernick jersey with a “Will stand for food” sign … while sporting an afro wig and a fake nose in an effort to make fun of the QB.

But the UNR PD ain’t laughing … Chief Adam Garcia issued a statement condemning Gutierrez saying, “For those who have seen the Halloween costume of one of our officers apparently mocking a citizen who has chosen to take advantage of his constitutional right to protest, I offer my sincere apologies.”

“Members of our profession are held to a higher standard and denigrating another — on or off duty — is insensitive for its lack of respect and lack of understanding on how others may negatively view their actions and may be impacted.”

When asked if the officer was punished, we were told, “We have no policy that would dictate any disciplinary action.”

FYI, Kaepernick was a standout QB at UNR from 2007 to 2010 — before being drafted by the 49ers.

Utah Nurse Arrested For Doing Her Job Reaches $500,000 Settlement

The nurse who was roughly arrested at a Salt Lake City hospital has settled with the city and the university that owns the hospital for $500,000.

Police body camera footage from the July incident showed an officer roughly arresting Alex Wubbels after she refused to allow him to draw blood from an unconscious patient.

At the beginning of the video, she is seen calmly reading the officer the hospital’s policy not to allow blood to be drawn without a warrant or the patient’s consent, unless the patient is under arrest. “This is something you guys agreed to with this hospital,” she explains.

Then the officer lunges at Wubbels, forces her outside and handcuffs her as she screams that she has done nothing wrong.

The footage drew widespread outrage when it was released by the nurse and her attorney. It became part of a broader conversation about police use of force.

“We all deserve to know the truth and the truth comes when you see the actual raw footage and that’s what happened in my case,” Wubbels told reporters on Tuesday. “No matter how truthful I was in telling my story, it was nothing compared to what people saw and the visceral reaction people experienced when watching the footage of the experience that I went through.”

The settlement deal covers all possible defendants from lawsuits, The Associated Press reports, including individual police officers and hospital security guards.

Salt Lake City and the University of Utah will split the cost of the settlement.

Wubbels says she will use a portion of the money to help people get access to police body camera footage of incidents involving themselves, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Her attorney’s firm will provide free legal services for those seeking access to video. Wubbels says she also plans to donate to the Utah Nurses Association and help lead the #EndNurseAbuse campaign.

Last month, the Salt Lake Police Department fired the arresting officer, Detective Jeff Payne, and demoted his watch commander, Lt. James Tracey, to the rank of officer. The Tribune reports that both men have appealed the punishment, and that a criminal investigation into Wubbels’ arrest is ongoing.

Wubbels told the AP that she would be disappointed if the disciplinary measures are overturned, though she says it’s not in her control.

“The police have to police themselves,” she said. “This is something I never would have expected to happen, but I’m also honored by the weight of it.”

Quick vocal warmup: say “Sexy Selena is single” five times fast!

For Selena Gomez (the Wizards of Waverly Place wonder girl, “Hands to Myself” hitmaker, Netflix producer and Coach model… the list go

es on) just split with Canadian rapper The Weeknd after 10 months of dating.

It’s too bad The Weeknd just can’t make a relationship last. Before Gomez, the “Starboy” singer was linked to supermodel Bella Hadid, which culminated in an awkward on-stage reunion at the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Even worse for Mr. Weeknd, Selena has been spotted with her old ex Justin Bieber in recent days. That’s gotta hurt.

On a more positive note, Selena Gomez is newly single! As a beautiful 25 year old with her entire life ahead of her and 128 million Instagram followers (that’s bigger than the population of Japan), this surely won’t be her last fling.

Let’s be real: it’ll probably be with another celebrity, at least in the B-list range. And based on aforementioned sightings, it may be with Bieber although we pray that’s just Hollywood hearsay.

As Bullets Flew This Marine Vet Stole a Truck and Started Transporting Vegas Shooting Victims to the Hospital Himself

Taylor Winston, a 29-year-old Marine who had served in Iraq, thought he heard fireworks as he stood with friends to the right of the stage at the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas. That was until he saw people screaming and running for their lives while others just dropped to the ground.

Winston and his friend, Jenn Lewis, fled the scene, leaving another buddy, Jason, in the crowd to look after himself and other friends, but Winston and Lewis didn’t bail on Jason completely. Instead, the pair spotted an abandoned truck and used it to take the wounded to the hospital. Not just a veteran of the Marines, Winston has also been to his fair share of country music festivals and figured that there would have to be at least one truck with the keys still in it. “So I just crossed my fingers and it turned out to work out,” Winston said.

“Jenn and I luckily found a truck with keys in it and started transporting priority victims to the hospital and made a couple trips and tried to help out the best we could until more ambulances could arrive,” Winston continued. The pair managed to transport more than 20 people to a nearby hospital in just two trips. Several of Winston’s passengers had serious injuries, such as one woman who had been shot in the neck and chest, however, he is unsure how many people the pair were able to save.

“I can’t be for certain. There’s a few that I don’t think probably made it. They were pretty limp when we were pulling them out of the truck, but they still had a pulse, so I’m hoping for the best,” Winston admitted. “I’m moreso just angry that someone did this, but I just gotta react. I can’t really dwell on it a whole lot.”

Once the pair had completed their trips to the hospital, Winston discovered he had saved a friend’s sister, however, amidst all the madness, he hadn’t been taking any notice of faces. “I was in such a speedy movement I didn’t assess anyone’s faces or anything,” Winston said. “Just wounds and who was most critical. I was just trying to be efficient and get the most serious critical condition people to the hospital first.”

En route to the hospital, Winston and Lewis were able to flag down a police car, who put on the siren and escorted the truck carrying the wounded through the traffic to the hospital, where medical staff were waiting to help victims. Friends have hailed the pair on Facebook as heroes. “I know you didn’t do this for recognition but because it was the right thing to do and that’s what makes you such an incredible human,” Winston’s friend, Jenifer Michelle concluded her message to the former Marine.
